Subtitle Translator

Translate subtitle using LLM

Supported subtitle extensions

  • .ass
  • .srt
  • .ssa
  • .vtt WebVTT
  • .json translation checkpoints generated by the app

Features

  • Translate subtitle using ChatGPT
  • Support multiple languages
  • Translation according to the preceding and following sentences
  • Save translation checkpoints as JSON so an interrupted translation can be resumed by dragging the JSON file back into the app

Translation modes

  • Strict (default): Keeps each source cue one-to-one and supports the full set of existing subtitle formats and output formats, including SRT, VTT, ASS, and SSA.
  • Adaptive: Accepts .srt and .vtt input and outputs translated SRT or bilingual ASS. It can merge or split adjacent cues, apply local repairs, and use a per-scene Strict fallback when repair cannot recover a valid result.
  • Adaptive bilingual ASS keeps original cues on their source timeline and translated cues on the independently generated Adaptive timeline. ASS/SSA input remains unsupported. Completed Adaptive jobs keep a .translation.json project checkpoint for resume and layout-only rerender.
