How the rankings work.
The default project leaderboard sorts tracked AI repositories by stars gained between daily snapshots, with total stars used to break ties. Switch to seven-day growth or total stars for a different view. A star signals interest, not code quality, security or endorsement. Coverage is our tracked repository set, not every AI project on GitHub. Developer and bot boards use weighted contributions recorded by the collection pipeline; those scores are separate from project star growth.
Model rankings use the token or request volume reported by OpenRouter for the selected category and day, week or month. App rankings reflect usage through OpenRouter; the popular and trending views use the source’s respective ranking. The source window, unit and attribution appear below each board. This measures activity on one platform, not global market share, user satisfaction or benchmark quality. Models with more tokens can reflect different workload lengths rather than more users.
The top-rated leaderboard reproduces Arena’s human preference rankings. Ratings, vote counts and confidence intervals come from the selected source category and publication date. Overlapping confidence intervals mean small rank differences may be uncertain. Overall and coding boards cover different tasks and should not be mixed. These are preference scores, not five-star reviews, and cannot be compared numerically with token usage. Consult Arena for its current scoring methodology and evaluation design.
AI Rank generates its daily brief from collected ranking snapshots and linked sources. The brief highlights changes and possible explanations; the explanations are analysis and can be wrong. Follow the linked repositories and source boards to verify claims. AI-generated summaries are not independent benchmark tests or hands-on product reviews.
We collect daily snapshots, but upstream sources can publish on different schedules. Use the date and time window shown on each board or detail page rather than assuming all scores describe today. A missing value is unavailable data, not zero; new entries and sparse histories can have limited comparisons. Ranking changes describe our recorded snapshots and can also reflect changes in source coverage.
OpenRouter and Arena data are attributed on the relevant boards with the source-provided license (CC BY 4.0 where shown). GitHub project descriptions and READMEs remain their owners’ content. AI Rank is an independent aggregation product. If a source, attribution, classification or summary is incorrect, contact us with the page URL and the correction.
