Tencent Hunyuan released Hy4 on November 4, 2026, calling it the first time the Hy line sits among the strongest open-weight models. Against Hy4 preview, the company says it scaled pre-training and post-training, added vision for the first time, and shipped computer use that mixes command-line and GUI control.

The model is live on Tencent Cloud and OpenRouter, and inside CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy, Yuanbao, and ima. Tencent says API pricing is unchanged from preview. Weights are not open yet; the team plans to release them with a system card.

  • Vision. Official demos cover fine-grained image detail, complex charts, and visual math, combining perception, reasoning, and tool calls. OpenRouter lists text and image input.
  • Computer use. CLI plus GUI; targeted training on Blender, CAD, and multi-app workflows.
  • Context on OpenRouter. OpenRouter shows a 1,048,576-token context window for tencent/hy4 and, as of launch day, a temporary 50% discount off the list rates above.

Background

Tencent shipped Hy4 preview on August 28, 2026 as a 770B MoE model with 49B active parameters and a 1M-token context window, and open-sourced that preview build. The November 4 post does not restate parameter counts for the GA checkpoint; it frames Hy4 as a broader training scale-up with new multimodal and agent abilities on top of the preview line.

Chinese coverage from IT Home and Caijing mirrors the official capability claims and the “same API price” line. OpenRouter’s model page for tencent/hy4 carries a November 4, 2026 release date and matches the vision / agent framing.

Reactions and Impact

The Hunyuan release page quotes product and partner evaluations rather than independent lab blogs. WorkBuddy’s product note cites an average score of 83.18 and a 96.15% pass rate on an internal suite, ranking first among Chinese models in 9 of 12 scenarios. Manus reports nearly 97% task completion on document creation and editing in its internal set. RabyteTech says Hy4 scored 61.63 on IRAB, 12.03 points above Hy4 preview. These figures are vendor-published; we have not seen third-party replications yet.
