OpenAI on October 29, 2026 raised included Work and Codex usage on ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium plans. OpenAI employee Tibo (@thsottiaux) posted that Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium limits were doubling that day, and that a planned Pro 200 cut would not go ahead. OpenAI's Help Center release notes and Pro tiers page state the same change for Work and Codex.

Key Facts

Plan / seat What OpenAI says changed
Pro 100 Twice the previous Work and Codex allowance
Pro 500 Twice the previous Work and Codex allowance
Pro 200 September 29 reduction canceled; accounts on the lower allowance doubled to match the higher one; accounts already on the higher allowance keep it
Business Premium Included in the Work and Codex increase (release notes)
Plus Unchanged
Dots Extended limits continue for now; Dot usage stays separate from default usage

Existing subscribers receive the updated Work and Codex allowance automatically, without waiting for renewal. OpenAI says a larger allowance does not guarantee twice as many completed tasks, because consumption still depends on model, task, and settings. Pro 100 and Pro 500 keep their current weekly GPT-6 Pro Chat message limits; on Pro 200, the lower weekly Chat limit rises to match the higher one. Those Chat limits are separate from Work and Codex.

Background

On September 29, 2026, OpenAI introduced Pro 500 ($500/month) with Astra Ultrafast, reopened Pro 200 for new subscriptions, and said included usage for some Pro 200 accounts would change, with affected users emailed. Tibo's October 29 "Day 25" post said the company heard feedback and would not reduce Pro 200 Work and Codex usage. OpenAI employee Andrew Ambrosino (@ajambrosino) separately wrote that usage limits were "back to being double" and that feedback had worked.

Reactions and Impact

Tibo's announcement drew heavy reply traffic on X. Many replies pressed OpenAI about Plus, which the Help Center says is unchanged. BleepingComputer and The Decoder both reported the doubling and the Pro 200 reversal, citing Tibo's post and OpenAI's published plan guidance.

What We Don't Know Yet

  • Exact numeric Work and Codex budgets per tier (OpenAI does not publish fixed message or task counts)
  • How long "extended" Dot limits remain in place
  • Whether Plus will get a later allowance change
  • How much of the Pro 200 base was already on the higher versus lower allowance before October 29
