Background
Conductor launched its core product in July 2025 after founding in 2024. The product orchestrates third-party coding agents (Claude Code, Codex and peers) across cloud, local, and phone. TechCrunch notes Meta has been building Muse Code and Muse agents, and has made other AI-related acquisitions over the past year. Axios first reported the deal; TechCrunch and The Decoder followed with the shutdown timeline.
Reactions and Impact
Holtz framed the deal as the start of a next interface rather than a quiet wind-down of the brand. For current customers the immediate change is the cloud timeline: two weeks of read-only access, then deletion. Local Conductor keeps receiving models and critical fixes into early 2027, which Holtz ties to the promised follow-on product.
