Background
Claude's personal paid lineup previously labeled the two highest tiers Max 5x and Max 20x. Anthropic's Ultra help article states that Max 20x is now Ultra, with the same price and with weekly usage set at ten times Pro. The public pricing page lists Max with a five-hour and weekly multiplier of 5× Pro, and Ultra with no five-hour limit for verified accounts plus 10× Pro weekly.
Anthropic says it verifies Ultra accounts automatically using factors such as account and payment history, to limit fraud and abuse. Phone verification at checkout is separate and does not clear the temporary five-hour limit. In Settings → Usage, accounts without a "Current session" bar are treated as verified.
The Verge reported the rename on October 30, 2026 (about 18:47 UTC). TokenPost and IT之家 published matching details on prices, the Ultra five-hour change, and the temporary limit for unverified or newer accounts.
What We Don't Know Yet
- How long verification typically takes for new Ultra accounts.
- Exact weekly token or message quotas in absolute numbers (Anthropic describes multipliers relative to Pro, not fixed message counts).
- Whether mobile App Store or Google Play Ultra pricing differs beyond the note that mobile pricing may vary.
