Instinct AI is the consumer name for Instinct, a personal assistant from Spear Street Technology, Inc. The homepage says there are "no new interfaces": you text or call it, and it can use a phone and a computer the way a person would. Official examples include ordering ingredients for a recipe, booking a weekend train, ordering groceries, sending flowers, or finding a court for the weekend.

Access is not open to everyone. The product sits behind a private beta and a phone-number waitlist on instinct.com. Press coverage from mid-2026 also describes invite codes from existing users.

How you reach Instinct

Official SMS terms (revised August 17, 2026) say Spear Street Technology, Inc. d/b/a Instinct sends one-time passcodes when you request a sign-in code at app.instinct.com/signin. If you join while the service is at capacity, you may get a welcome text from your assigned Instinct number when a spot opens. The same consent covers occasional waitlist updates and product tips. Reply STOP to opt out of texts; reply START to resume.

The Terms of Service (revised August 26, 2026) add that parts of the service may contact you by phone or text, including with automated dialing systems, and that you must be 18 or older. Press pieces such as Built In (October 21, 2026) also describe WhatsApp as a channel; the company's own homepage copy sticks to text and call.

Tasks the company highlights

Instinct's own page frames the product as an assistant that "understands what you're working on and what's important to you," then acts across phone and computer surfaces. The Terms describe connected third-party services, Inputs you provide, Outputs the system generates, and Actions it may take on your behalf, including purchases where Instinct says it is facilitating your transaction with the third party rather than selling the item itself.

TechCrunch's August 26, 2026 funding story quotes founder Noah Shinn saying early users planned road trips, bought groceries and concert tickets, and cancelled subscriptions. Treat those as founder-reported examples, not independent benchmarks.

Instinct Concierge phone calls

On September 16–17, 2026, TechCrunch reported that Instinct added Instinct Concierge, a calling feature so the agent can place phone calls for high-touch tasks such as restaurants that do not take online reservations, dentist cancellation lists, or cable-bill problems. Founder Noah Shinn said it was rolling out in early access first. The same TechCrunch piece notes Instinct had also rolled out email addresses so the assistant can handle account sign-up and management, and a trusted-network path for assistants to contact each other.

Waitlist, beta, and funding context

Built In's explainer states that Instinct is in beta, invite-only for current users, and that people without an invite can join a waitlist with a mobile number on instinct.com. Official SMS terms match that waitlist-welcome flow.

Funding reported in the press:

  • August 26, 2026: TechCrunch reported a $250 million Series B co-led by Index Ventures and Benchmark, bringing total funding to $350 million at a $2.5 billion valuation, citing the Wall Street Journal and Spear Street Technology / Noah Shinn.
  • September 28, 2026: SiliconANGLE reported Instinct announced a $1 billion round at a $10 billion valuation, with Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Coatue among participants.

Pricing for a public launch is not spelled out on the homepage. The Terms include a "Paid services" section, so do not assume the product will stay free for every user forever.

Privacy language and reported concerns

Two official documents matter more than rumor:

  1. Privacy Policy (August 26, 2026): Instinct says it does not sell your information to registered data brokers. It collects contact details, payment data via a processor, messages you send, and data from connected apps (including message and email content you make available). It uses Usage Data to develop and improve the product, including evaluating, fine-tuning, and training the AI models that power it. You can opt out of model training at app.instinct.com/settings; the policy still allows training use when content is flagged for safety review.
  2. Terms of Service: Usage Data may be used or disclosed in de-identified or aggregated forms "for any lawful purpose," including improving products. Materials may be used to train AI models unless you opt out; content placed in the "Vault" feature is described as excluded from model training.

TechCrunch's August funding story separately notes that Instinct had already drawn privacy controversy online over permissions and terms. That is a press observation, not a regulator finding.
